Sometimes people's views can be mis- read and I think this must be the case here.

Hope Gerry continues to contribute to the forum as his advice is excellent.

My comments were very much tongue in cheek. I've been PMing Gerry the last few days and as ever he's reveling in his grumpiness.

Yes it's all been positive comments, good wishes, consolation and with a healthy bit of good natured ribbing thrown in.

The forum would be lifeless....

Gerry, I think your ad is likely to get plenty of views with the level of activity on this thread, normally chat on for sale threads would be discouraged, out of deference to your contributions to the Club I don’t think anybody will be bothered.

Thank you Ian, true what you say, but it's getting embarrassing now. Thank you for your forbearance anyway, they all will run out of steam eventually!

Gerry old friend, sorry to hear your news, which I originally missed, what can I say that hasn't already been said, I know you'll miss driving your "5" but you've a resilient chap with an enquiring mind and lot's of interests, I'm sure there's plenty of things for you to get stuck into.   Take care ole' buddy and drop a line on the forum when you want a chat with your mates.

Roger - I was wondering where you'd got to - beginning to think you had problems of your own, which bothered me. However, you are still well and kicking, so worries are over now. - I hope.

I too was sorry to read your news Gerry. I'm 50 next year (where the hell did the last 30years go to????) and already I've been getting thoughts of what illI do when I can't drive anymore. Actually scares me and depresses me to even think about it as cars are my only addiction, have been since I was a kid.

I've not been here in the forum long, and joined without having an MX5. Even in the short time I've been here though, yours is one of the few names I feel familiar with when browsing posts. The advice and info yourself and others have me whilst looking for my first MX5 were invaluable and greatly appreciated mate. As said by others, your knowledge on these cars is vast, and your words and humour always entertaining! So make sure you keep posting in the forum.

Hope your 5 goes to a worthy owner who will cherish her mate, she looks like a stunner and deserves to be pampered.

Dave

Gerry, the reason I missed your sad news originally was because it was part of your "for sale" post, which is a section I don't need to read, thoughtfully and thankfully "Saz" had the foresight to make a new thread which I picked-up on.  And, thanks both Mum and I are alive a kicking, thanks for asking.  Take care ole' buddy!

Dave,

Thank you for your kind words, but to put the record straight, I'm no mechanic (carwise) only in other things. Basically I was a sparks for many years, again not related to cars, but commercial and industrial. My MX5 experience relates to owning (and loving) a Mk2.5 MX5, and as a lucky owner of the wiring manual I can help people from that perspective, but not if a piston comes out the side of an engine! - (Who can?) Having worked on both AC and DC circuits in the past, reading the manual is no problem for me, though it defeats many others, with a few exceptions.

Finding the right Garage with a good mechanic has always been my motto - over the past 65 years of owning or driving cars, so I tend to stay clear of mechanical queries, - unless they relate to any experiences I've had.
