I sold my MX5 today and thinking about a new MK4 but have been told the model is now been modified and also the red colour is changing. There is a couple items on the net but does anyone have any more Information and when the new cars will be available.

Mazda site isn’t yet showing any changes.

There's a bit of information here - although may not be 100% correct 'cos it isn't directly from Mazda.  However, it does state a few details.  New model year cars often come out in the preceding autumn, so perhaps might be available from Sept or Oct 2018?

Edit - just found this, which indicates that it'll be on sale from August...

The most interesting bit is the 2.0 power hike to around 180 and a new exhaust.

The newer red is slightly more red.

Great the Mazda have upped the power in a mk4. One move in the right direction.

It's somewhat of a disappointment thought, that instead of wasting their time tinkering with the soul red colour, for the 2nd time. That they weren't out at silverstone classic yesterday, as I was, looking at the Porsches lotus's etc for some inspiration for some better clothes to dress the revised 2018 Mk4 in.

Shame on Mazda Japan for missing a trick in not dressing a pretty girl in some bright colours.

For me it was sad to see the generally dull colour pallet of the Mk4s, yesterday, against that of the Mk3's, 2's and 1's. Whilst the earlier versions still don't have the sort of variation you see on the Porsche stands they still have the ability to show how massively limited the Mk4's is In this regard.

They have told me that they are and I would love to believe Mazda UK's marketing department were doing their upmost to give us something different. But the cynic in me refuses to believe that.

Feel better now. Rant over .

Our glorious summer continues. Have a gr8 day everyone

If you want a choice of colours buy a German car.

If you look at Mazda, Suzuki, Subaru etc there are vey few colours in their range that make you say, "I will have one that colour".

Unless you paid extra for a special paint job the colour options on my ex Audi A3 and A class merc company cars were pretty crap tbh.

look at the yellow and blue colours on the new Lexus sports car not all Japanese manufacturers are going the same way. In a similar way to the Lexus its a sports car so you kinda expect some sporty colours

Take the Mk3. It had around 30 sets of clothes over its lifetime. Some like competition yellow never made it to the uk but you have to imagine it was an option for Mazda uk. In those 30 colours there was some different stand out colours. Spirited Green, Aquatic Blue etc. It's not unreasonable to expect at least the same for the MK4.

So far we have had 12 on the Mk4. Of which 3 are slightly different versions of soul red, 3 whites and two greys that at times are difficult to tell apart.

Frankly that's an absolutely rubbish choice.

Stay tight lipped and nothing changes.

IMHO the owners club should be voicing its disappointment at the poor range of colours. Mazda Japan might just wake up and smell the coffee.

So from what i can see you get a bit more power and torque and basically the same Soul Red but just ever so subtly different. Oh, and a two position door opening rather than 3 on the current. Well, that's me sold!
