Brede pumping station is steeped in history. Water is in everyone’s home but Brede gives us the opportunity to see how the town of Hastings was growing rapidly and needed more water. Thus the water treatment works was built at Brede requiring steam driven pumps and a pipeline of several miles to take the water to Hastings.
The tour itself was around two hours long and the time went surprisingly quickly. The tour guide was interesting and informative. Well worth the visit
