AREA CO-ORDINATORS

Michael Gardner & Steve Woods
Email: northwest@mx5oc.co.uk

Welcome to the MX-5 Owners Club North West Area which covers North Manchester, Lancashire and Cumbria. We also border Cheshire, Derbyshire and Yorkshire.

These scenic, diverse parts of the country leave us well placed to organise excellent runs and events twice monthly on Sundays and also some midweek. We visit all the above areas including the Lake District, North Yorkshire and North Wales. We also organise week-ends away and driving holidays at home and abroad.

As you can see, we are a very active club who try to provide a varied programme of events for all members. Currently, we are looking to attend more motor sports. Visit our North West Diary for future events.

MONTHLY SOCIAL MEETINGS

Our monthly social meetings are now held at the The Crown, Platt Lane, Standish WN1 2XF.

The monthly social meetings are held on the last Wednesday of the month (except December). The Crown has an excellent menu which is reasonably priced. Those wishing to eat can meet from 6.30pm onwards. Here we discuss future runs, events and relevant club topics, including new ideas members may have.

Everyone is welcome and, if attending a meeting or run for the first time, please contact one of the Co-ordinators (see above) so they can be there to welcome and introduce you to other members.

NW – Yorkshire Dales and the Forest of Bowland @ Carnforth Truck Stop
Jul 21 all-day

Dave and Lynda Norton have arranged a scenic and an extremely attractive drive through what is undoubtedly one of our group’s favourite and most cherished areas.

We meet at Carnforth Truck Stop (Scotland Road, Warton , Carnforth LA5 9RQ) on Sunday 21st July at 10:00 for a 10:30 departure.

We travel through Whittington, Barbon and Dent before arriving for a coffee break at Wensleydale Creamery at Hawes (DL8 3RN) where you will find a delightful cafe and well-stocked shop together with a substantial cheese selection area where you can sample a large array of delicious on-site produced cheese.

On leaving Hawes we head for Settle for lunch via Kettlewell, Arncliffe, Litton and Stainforth. We will aim to park at the Greenfoot car park (BD24 9RW). A walk around the town is always a pleasant experience, weather permitting of course!  A number of eateries are available for you to enjoy lunch.

The final leg takes us through the Forest of Bowland via Bentham to Caton where we say our farewells at the Station Hotel (LA2 9QS). Junction 34 of the M6 is only 4 miles away.

Detailed Tulip maps will be available to download closer to the event date,

Rod and Mandy have organised this mid week run to the British Iron Works in Oswestry on Thursday 25th July 2024.

Meeting at Bents Garden Centre, WA3 5NT, 9:30am for a 10:00am prompt start to enable plenty of time to spend at the Iron Works, a magical place to visit.

A comfort break with tea/coffee and biscuits has been arranged at The Royal Oak at Bangor where we can sit in or outside by the river if the weather is kind. Make your own arrangements regarding routes home, the A49 is close by.

Normal entry is £10.00 per person, £7.50 concessions, we may get a group deal which includes sandwiches and drinks.

Please support our first midweek run of the year, tulip maps for directions and further information can be found on our North West OC Facebook page.
