Mal Rowland & Terry Botto
Solent Region meets twice a month, for a Sunday Drive on the first Sunday of each month, which takes place all year round and an evening event on the third Wednesday of each month. Full details of all our events, are provided in our “Solent Area Programme”, which is posted on the Solent Area of the Forum and is a live document and can be found at;(https://mx5oc.co.uk/forum/yaf_postst96352_Solent-Area-MX5-2017-Programme.aspx).
So, this is where you will find the latest information on all our meets. During the winter months, we normally use “The Milbury’s” (https://themilburyspub.synthasite.com/) in Beauworth but again, watch the Solent Area Programme for the latest details.
Held at The Milburys Pub in Beauworth, SO24 0PB on the third Wednesday of each month during winter months but as stated above, please check the Solent Area Programme for the latest details.

Please Note: This drive is not on our normal Wednesday Night but moved one day right, to enable us to tie up with a Classic Vehicle Event!
As we continue our season of evening drives, here is one we have had on the back burner for a while: A drive from Bishops Waltham to Port Solent
Start Point: Bishops Watham Central Car Park, Basingwell Street Upper, Bishop’s Waltham, Southampton SO32 1AR at 18:00 onwards, for a prompt getaway at 18:30.
NB: I any member(s) are unable to meet the 18:30 getaway time from Bishops Waltham, if easier, feel free to meet us at Port Solent.
Finish Point: Port Solent Main Car Park, The Boardwalk, Portsmouth PO6 4TP
The drive will be fairly short but take in a route via Portsdown Hill, which if its a nice evening, will have great views of Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight
Once at Port Solent, members are free to either eat first, at one of the many eateries and then wander across to see the “Air Souls” display of vehicles, which range from air cooled and retro vehicles, be they cars bikes, tanks or vans
Alternatively, members can view the vehicles first and then go for food – but check the closing time of the venue you choose to eat at, to avoid disappointment.
We are continuing to cap drives to 30 people max, initially but there is some leeway if venues have good Covid measures in place and this one is an outdoor event and eating venues have safety measures in place.
Please respond to the Forum Post only and not via Facebook or messenger, in order that we can capture names of all attendees, as per current MX5OC Covid-19 rules and we will go from there.
As with previous post-lockdown drives and events, numbers are currently limited to 30 members (max) by the MX5OC and we will put together a list that will be kept for 25 days, the requisite period, and destroyed by shredding, once this time period has expired.
We are currently looking at and contacting venues for future drives and events that we can safely arrange for members. So, be sure to visit the forum and Solent Calendar Posts regularly, for any updates!
Mal & Terry.
