This is a night visit to the Bayfordbury Observatory in Hertfordshire. There is a ticket cost of £13 per person and numbers will be limited. Places will be on a first come, first served basis for MK&C Area Members and then opened to Oxford Area members, depending on response or if numbers allow.
The price of the ticket will need to be paid in advance to confirm your space on the visit. Once we have the minimum number of attendees, we will purchase the tickets centrally.
Deadline is Friday 23rd September 2023
We will meet at the Observatory at 19:00
The visit will begin at 7.15pm and lasts for 2 hours. The visit takes the form of a talk/workshop for the first 45 minutes, then a half hour planetarium show, and half an hour at the telescopes. During Spring/Summer months, they will be using their Solar telescopes to view the Sun when it is above the horizon, and our regular telescopes to view the Moon and planets when visible. The visit will be finished by 9.15pm.
Attendees will need to bring warm clothes as the telescopes are outdoors and it can get quite chilly. Apart from a vending machine there is nowhere to get any food or drink on site but visitors are welcome to bring snacks and we have water fountains from which you can fill your own bottles.
