The Lifewise Centre is an interactive learning centre for South Yorkshire communities, developed by South Yorkshire Police and South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue. Featuring a purpose-built set, it is used to educate visitors about safety and citizenship with the ultimate aim of reducing crime and improving quality of life.

History
Lifewise in South Yorkshire was established in April 2005 by South Yorkshire Police and South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue with the intention of creating a base for the ever-popular ‘Crucial Crew’
A fantastic new set was built within the grounds of Magna in Rotherham and within a short time schools from all over the county were enjoying half-day sessions within the unique environment.

In early 2011, South Yorkshire Police and South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue recognised that the work that was done at Lifewise was crucial to all the emergency services. In the challenge of improving community safety across the county, Lifewise helped to educate people in preventative measures and advice but to do this, it would need to have new facilities, and a new location was sought.

The set was designed by local theatre set designers; ‘Lantern’ and we had fantastic support from businesses, volunteers and trades people from across South Yorkshire who gave up both their time and money to help build the set.
