Following a successful weekend of runs, meals out and general socialising, the Wiltshire Weekend will become an annual event!
This year we have moved from June (due to the national) to August.
Saturday 10 August
There will be a ‘run’ meeting at Hartwell Nursery and Garden Centre at 10:30 (depart at 11:00) to The Pelican, Bath Road (A4), Froxfield, Marlborough, SN8 3JY for a 2pm lunch (pre-orders required). They have another big party in earlier, which is why we’re not any earlier 😕.
Then a further ‘Afternoon Run’ of approx. 1½-2 hour run through Pewsey Vale and taking in most of the Wiltshire White Horses and the Avebury Stone Circle, ending at the Premier Inn, Salisbury Road, Marlborough, SN8 4AE.
Saturday Evening will be a BBQ at Judith & Alastair’s house (members who moved in 2022) 😉 Details will be supplied in a separate e-mail.
Please book your own overnight accommodation at the Marlborough Premier Inn or another suitable hotel. SORRY – no taxi available to pre book, we will need to walk, drive ourselves or in Jan’s case use her buggy!
There will be a further run on Sunday morning to a lunch venue before departing for home or an onward destination.
Sunday 11 August
10:30 depart after Breakfast (this will also allow time for the ‘daytrippers’ to get here)
2½ – 3 hour run around the Lambourn Downs and into the Vale of the White Horse, to include a cafe/garden centre stop,
Sunday 11 August – Lunch 13:30
Freke Arms, Swanborough, nr Highworth, SN6 7RN
They only do Sunday Roasts, usually 3+ and a couple of vegetarian choices on a Sunday for £14.95 – £17.95 and also offer smaller portions for Senior Citizens (which may be preferred after a Premier Inn Breakfast 🤣)
No pre-orders required. We will be on 3-4 adjacent tables in a reasonably separate area.
Easy access to the A420 (Swindon>Oxford road) for those returning to MK & Bedford or the M4 (via A419) or the B4507/A417 Wantage>Didcot if preferred
As last year, you can choose to join us on any or all of the runs. However please let us know so we can book the correct numbers for meals. Thank you.
