Valentines Run 2019

Here we go again boys and girls, a chance to take the love of your life for a spin on our annual Valentines run which transverse the Pennines on excellent motorway, A & B roads. Make sure she’s had a good wash and well turned out!

This year we will be meeting at Birch Services, M62 Eastbound, (heading towards Leeds) 10.00am for a 10.30 start. The run begins by climbing the Pennines on the M62 leaving at the summit, Junction 22. From here we drive through the villages of Denshaw, Delph and Uppermill, over Saddleworth Moor, passing through Meltham and on to our coffee stop at Standedge Tunnel Visitor Centre at Marsden, HD7 6NQ. This is the entrance to Britain’s longest canal tunnel, over three miles long. Plenty of time here for a coffee and to explore the locks and visitor centre. Car parking has been arranged.

Leaving Standedge, we crisscross the Pennines towards Ripponden, over Rishworth Moor then turning right on B6138, a lengthy decline to Mytholmroyd. We drive through Hebden Bridge before taking a steep climb with a couple of hairpins to Heptonstall Moor and from here a good road to our lunch stop at Nino’s at The Fighting Cocks, Cliviger, BB10 4RQ.

We’ve had lunch at Nino’s in the past, they offer an excellent three course Sunday lunch and also have a varied menu to choose from. We have arranged for a private area for the club and as always there will be a little something for the ladies for Valentines Day.

From here there are directions on the tulip maps to get you to the M65 and your onward journey home.

We hope you’ll enjoy this day out.

Steve & Jean.
