WORLD RECORD CLEARED FOR TAKE OFF

ELVINGTON AIRFIELD – SUNDAY 20TH JUNE, 2021

MX-5 1K

Delighted to say we’ve got the go ahead to hold the World Record attempt on Sunday 20th June, 2021!

It has taken a lot of work with the local authority and the airfield to meet the challenges of the current restrictions.

We know that is soon, but fairly sure if they can pull of an Olympics in 4 weeks time, we can pull this attempt off in 2!

It will be no surprise that the restrictions will impact how we manage the day, most notably the numbers are capped to a maximum of 1000 vehicles (and hence where the MX-5 1K!)

If we reach that number this will still smash the existing record of 683.

1544 cars attended the previous attempt in 2019 and over 1300 people have already registered interest for the attempt so we hope with your help that it will be possible to break both Parade records for Mazdas and Convertibles!

IMPORTANT – ALL ENTRANTS MUST PRE-BOOK FOR CONTROL & SAFETY REGULATIONS.

To take part members must pre-register their Mazda car and driver details.

The booking system on the MX-5 Owners Club shop will add member details to the Guinness World Record evidence submission, as well as add details to track and trace registration – on arrival entrance passes will automatically log in participants to the attempt.

An Event Pass is required per car – only the car and driver require an Event Pass, passengers in the same car are admitted free.

The Event Pass is priced at £10 and will include your event pass, lanyard, car number and stickers and will all be posted securely in the week before the event. Members can add a commemorative MX-5 1K cap (limited to 500 pieces) with the Event pass plus pack (£23).

Cars not pre-registered or without entry pass will be turned away without right to further appeal. Event passes are essential to attend.

The day will run from 12pm (exact details will be included in event pass packs) to allow for travel to and from the venue  –  even if members set off from Exeter or Aberdeen at 7am they could be there in time – or home again that night before 9pm! Most of the UK population is within 3 hours drive of Elvington.
